• “Loving Aurora Through Partnering” is theme for Chicago author/advocate Bob Muzikowski

Aurora, Ill., Sept. 28, 2005 (The Religion Wire™) — Aurora’s First Presbyterian Church is inviting the Aurora area community to an evening banquet centered on the theme of “Loving Aurora Through Partnering.” The Oct. 29, 6 – 8:30 p.m., banquet will feature special guest speaker Bob Muzikowski of Chicago and author of Safe at Home (Zondervan 2001). Jerry Rose, president of Total Living Network (TLN), will be the evening’s Master of Ceremony. The FPC choir will provide music. Area outreach ministries will also be highlighted at table booths.

As part of Love Aurora Sunday, Muzikowski will also be the church’s Sunday morning speaker.

In 1991, Muzikowski founded the Near North Little League in the Cabrini Green Housing Project in Chicago. He also founded the East Harlem Little League in 1993 and the Near West Little League (the largest inner-city league in the United States) in 1995.

He is the author of “Safe at Home”, a personal account that tells the real story of his life and work with needy children and their families after he was misplayed in the 2001 movie “Hardball.” His story is far more than the story of one man. It is also the story of volunteers from all walks of life - neighborhood adults, corporate executives, recovering drug addicts, ex-offenders and political figures - all giving their time and energy and getting more in return than they ever imagined. His work was the inspiration for the Aurora Neighborhood Baseball League established by the Urban Youth Ministries of Wayside Cross Ministries.

Muzikowski is also president of Chicago Hope Academy, a new Christian high school.

Tickets are complimentary for the Oct. 29 banquet at the Harkness Family Center, 60 S. Fourth St. A free will offering will be taken. For tickets contact Shirley Worst at (630) 897-3554.
