• New In-Town Route for 2005

Aurora, Ill., Sept. 30, 2005 (The Religion Wire™) — For over 30 years, the Aurora Area CROP Walk has helped to fight local and international hunger.

The Oct. 16 Aurora Area CROP Walk begins at 1:15 p.m. with registration and a rally at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 115 Oak St., North Aurora. At 2 p.m., the 10K walk will step-off. This year walkers will walk a new in-town route (see route map at www.auroracropwalk.org).

Each year 25% of the monies raised by the annual fall hunger walk goes to local organizations involved in fighting hunger at the community level. The Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry (12.5%) and Wayside Cross Ministries (12.5%) will share the 2005 walk’s local contribution. The remaining 75% is used by relief/development group Church World Service (CWS) and other donor-designated international relief agencies.

The 2004 Aurora Area CROP Walk raised nearly $10,000. This year’s goal is $15,000 with 150 plus walkers.

The first 100 pledge walkers will receive a FREE CROP Walk t-shirt. All walkers will receive a FREE Turtle Sundae certificate from Colonial Cafes & Ice Cream. Colonial will also give a cash donation to CROP for every walker.
