• Hear Local Author Charles Stone Discuss Parent–Teen Relationships at First Presbyterian Church’s Feb. 16 Pause & EnrichAurora, Ill., Jan. 28, 2006 (The Religion Wire™ ) — It’s more than a memoir, it’s real advice to parents and teens — come to First Presbyterian Church’s Pause and Enrich on Thursday, Feb. 16, noon. Hear co-author Charles Stone discuss his book - Daughters Gone Wild, Dads Gone Crazy : Battle-Tested Tips From a Father and Daughter Who Survived the Teenage Years (April 2005, W Publishing Group). He will also sign books. FPC is located at 325 E. Downer Place, Aurora.
Stone is the senior pastor of Ginger Creek Community Church, Aurora. He wrote this book with his daughter Heather.
Fifteen psychologists, twelve secondary schools, four expulsions, four rehabs, two house-arrests and innumerable arguments... the cast and plot line for a season’s worth of Law and Order? No. This was the real-life drama of Heather Stone’s adolescence. Now in college, Heather, the once rebellious teen, has sat down with her father to pen an insider’s guide for parents and teens alike.
The Stones share the realities of their 6-year nightmare, in the hopes of fostering hope for the millions of families trying to survive the years from thirteen to eighteen. Replete with faith, honesty, and practicality, it offers readers nine practical lessons and provides a compass for even the worst tempests of teen rebellion.
Pause and Enrich is scheduled each month with a book author or other reviewer on the third Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. Individuals bring a bag lunch with beverages provided. Pause and Enrich is “a special hour to nourish the mind, body, and soul.” It is “a time where books, faith, and a brown bag lunch meet.” Visit www.firstpresaurora.org.
